Shirley Wu Chief Analytics Officer Shirley manages a highly qualified analytics team statisticians and operations research experts, or 'data scientists'. She plays a principal role in analytical consulting plus the design and development of asset management tools for business decision support.
Shirley has a logical and imaginative mind and is a forward-looking, persistent, action-oriented person who gets things done. Her key strengths are statistical programming, individual and team problem solving, and staff coaching. Shirley and her team are also experts in the statistical model ling language,'R', developed by scientists at the University of Auckland. "We use R because of its strong capability in handling complicated problems with attention to detail. R also has an elegance in constructing powerful statistical models, with a wide range of data visualisation capabilities' says Shirley.
Shirley joined Harmonic from Auckland University, where she graduated with a Science Degree, with First Class Honours in Statistics and Mathematics and a Commerce Degree in Operations Management. She has won various awards during her study, including Annual Prize for best student in Science, the New Zealand Aluminum Smelters Prize in Statistics and the Flowds Memorial Prize for most distinguished student in the Science Faculty. Shirley has maintained a close working relationship with the Statistics Department at Auckland University.
Shirley’s goals are to expand her coaching, leadership and strategic thinking skills and to raise a super confident daughter.
In her spare time Shirley enjoys photography, fashion, exercise, video games and pop and hip hop music.
